Elli with pigMy primary interest is animal photography, with a focus on their sentience and welfare. I hope to strengthen people's sense of connection with the animals around them through photography, particularly in the case of farmed animals - for example the portrait of the hen with so many of her feathers missing was taken the day after she had been re-homed from a battery cage, and I wanted to bring her into close proximity as an individual, and not just a homogenous member of a production line.

The mirror shots were a more lighthearted look at an animal's sense of self and it was interesting how keen they were to use the mirror! All of my subjects were willing and untrained and I always work with a combination of patience and opportunism...
